Black models powered by either camp are expected to hit shelves sometime later in the fourth quarter. A grey version outfitted with Intel's Sandy Bridge platform will ship over a month later on October 30 with a bundled optical drive for $600. The former style will arrive first with AMD chips, 4GB of Ram and a 320GB hard drive for $400 on September 21 alongside many of the aforementioned all-in-one PCs. The dm1 will launch in "charcoal" grey and "ash" black colors.

This update isn't entirely about shipping the dm1 with today's finest hardware, as you can supposedly expect a more streamlined Windows experience thanks to the company's "Premier Experience" software, which includes HP CoolSense, QuickWeb, ProtectSmart, SimplePass and Launch Box. HP has also added its latest Beats Audio engine to drive your favorite speakers. The dm1's chiclet keyboard looks par for the course, but it has received an improved touchpad with two mouse buttons instead of its predecessor's single-touch solution. Aesthetically, the chassis has been slightly reworked and HP will coat the lid in a soft rubber material. The 11.6-inch machine will still carry a 1366x768 panel, weighs 3.52lbs and measures roughly an inch thick. HP's press release mentions "discrete-class" graphics, though we assume alludes to the Radeon core inside each Fusion APU. The company's latest ultraportable offering will be configurable with Sandy Bridge ULV silicon from Intel and E-Series Fusion products from AMD, including the upcoming 1.65GHz E-450. Cool, but I wasn't super impressed (if it booted in <2s, I would be, but it takes like 10s.On the heels of unveiling seven freshly minted all-in-one machines yesterday, HP has refreshed yet another computer series, introducing a new Pavilion dm1. You can boot into quickweb by pressing the "internet" button. Some linux distro's seem to treat the clickpad like a touchpad, is incredibly annoying. For the extra $100, it kicks atom based netbooks to the curb.

Battery life isn't all day, but charging it during lunch is enough for me, and it runs all the dev tools I need well enough (Except the android emulator, but nothing runs that well). Overall Review: Conclusion: Very happy with this machine, bought it so I could work while ignoring my prof's at school. Would rather have two separate audio ports. Cheap plastic door over the ethernet port get's annoying. O boto QuickWeb um boto secundrio, localizado prximo ao boto Liga/Desliga. Can't get into bios' advanced mode, were a few things I'd change for running with linux. But the res is ful 1366x768, which is what I got it for. It's glossy, the dynamic contrast destroys some mostly white websites (google stuff, sublte grey gradients). Not a big deal, but I open the lid from the middle, instead of a corner out of paranoia. Hinge is great, but the lid's plastic is. Really love the selection of ports on this, exactly what I use - HDMI, VGA, Gigabit ethernet, 3 usb (and not all on one side!), bluetooth, and the SD reader.Ĭons: - Build quality of the LCD's frame is a little weak. When typing the clickpad is automatically disabled, and a little red light in the corner of the clickpad. Press mute? Mute button has a little red light on the corner that turns on.
Love how the LED status lights are tied to the appropriate contexts. Incredibly solid, love the size of the enter/shift/backspace buttons.
